莲花生大师唐卡

莲花生（公元八世纪人），天竺佛教密宗大师，藏传佛教宁玛派祖师。于吐蕃赞普赤松德赞时期应佛学大师寂护与藏王之邀来吐蕃传法。建立了吐蕃历史上第一座佛、法、僧三宝俱全的寺庙——桑耶寺，提出了许多依法治帮、改进生产的具体措施；帮助翻译了两百余部显密经典；降伏了当时苯教12丹玛神，使吐蕃不再有外道；传授了众多为后期诸派共修的密法。

Guru Rinpoche, "Precious Teacher,"another name by which Padmasasmbhava is known. He was an 8th century Tantra master and wrote the "Tibetan Book of the Dead". Guru Rinpoche subdued Tibet's evil spirits and helped to establish Buddhism in Tibet. He is considered as the Second Buddha by the Nyingma Order. It was he who built Sanye Monastery.
